The ITimesheet app is the reason I decided to create the IPhoneWoman blog. Because of the way the app store is set up on ITunes, I literally spent hours looking for an app that would allow me to record my kids homeschool hours. I hoped to share my experience and save others some time! If you're not a homeschooler, this app may still be of interest to you.
I looked through dozens of counter and timer apps to no avail. This was the only one that allowed me to enter hours by hand rather than by timer. Keeping up with 3 or more timers at once isn't possible or even healthy! Fortunately ITinesheet allows both methods of time entry. It's really designed for those who bill by the hour but its flexibility is huge.
One thing it's ideal for is keeping track of kids' reading time. The app allows you to have a picture for each "client." This is a nice personal touch for those who really are using it for billable time, but it's perfect for a mom with several children too. With just a few taps I can enter my child's name, the project "reading"
and the task book.
The analytics allow you to see if they've read enough hours for their reading incentive program and how long it took them to read a particular book.
For homeschooling, the analytics tell me if our school hours are in accordance with my state laws. You should be able to copy tasks to other clients/students but that has been buggy for me so far. All data can be exported in formats (e.g., CSV) that make it compatible with other programs. As far as I have been able to determine, there are no IPhone compatible homeschool record keepers, making this your best choice at the moment.
There are many other uses for this fine app.
Want to know how much time you really spend at work doing unimportant stuff? Use the timer. Anything you want or need to track in terms of time, this is a great little tool.
